It is a traditional story, that while teaching an old man about Christianity, St. Brigid made a cross from rushes in order to explain the crucifixion. It is customary in Ireland to place these crosses above entrances to dwellings to invoke the help of the Saint in dispelling and warding off disease. Island Turf Crafts have recreated this fine cross in handcrafted irish turf made here in Ireland.
